Mountains or sea? Relaxation or sport? Shopping or culture? Whatever your choice, Veneto, located in the northeast of Italy, is the perfect destination. The variety of landscapes offers infinite leisure opportunities, from the Dolomites to the Adriatic Sea.
The region borders to the east with Friuli Venezia Giulia, to the northwest with Trentino-Alto Adige, to the west with Lombardy, and to the south with Emilia-Romagna. In addition to the capital Venice, Veneto includes the provinces of Belluno, Padua, Rovigo, Treviso, Verona, and Vicenza.
Venice is built on a lagoon of the Adriatic Sea, formed by over one hundred small islands. The city, considered one of the most beautiful in the world, captivates visitors with its numerous winding alleys, waterways, and bridges. People of all ages walk peacefully through the streets, admire the impressive cathedral in the famous Piazza San Marco, and watch the gondolas passing under the Rialto Bridge.
The region stands out for its extreme variety: the Alps to the north offer unforgettable mountain adventures, while the fertile Po Valley is characterized by rivers and wide plains. Here, flat paths without steep inclines are ideal for cyclists. Sun and water sports enthusiasts will find their paradise on the eastern shore of Lake Garda and along the Adriatic coast.
Famous for Shakespeare’s drama “Romeo and Juliet,” Verona is known worldwide. The city attracts visitors with iconic places like the Roman amphitheater “Arena di Verona” and the Scaliger Castle “Castelvecchio,” offering many other attractions to discover.
Veneto is Italy’s third-largest wine region. The stony and calcareous soils offer ideal conditions for the growth and ripening of grapes, while the Prealps protect them from harsh climates. Most of the wines come from Bardolino, Valpolicella, and Treviso in the Lake Garda region. In Treviso, a 16th-century fountain called the “Fountain of the Tits” was used to serve wine during festivals. To the north of the city, the Prosecco Road winds through lush vineyards from Conegliano to Valdobbiadene.
